How to Submit and Format Articles

01 May 2008

Submitting content is easy!

Click on the Submit Button in the top right hand corner of any page and follow the instructions. Please remember to complete your User Profile so that people interested in knowing more about you can find your profile.

We organize content in our database through two processes: topic and keywords. Each article or blog only has one topic (The World, Legal Education, Lifestyle, Memes, Practice Management, Courts, Technology and Offbeat) but can have many keywords. Keywords are organized into categories that more explicitly define the content of the article and cause it to be searchable through multiple avenues, including approaches (collaborative law, therapeutic jurisprudence), communicating (appreciative inquiry, peacemaking), practice management and lawyer well-being, to name a few. Choose your keywords well as they will determine where your article is listed.

A couple of notes about formatting your document. No formatting is required, but you can do this if you want things to look nice and stylish.

HEADINGS

To make a heading, type it like this:
<h3>THIS IS MY HEADING</h3>

CALL-OUTS

To make a call out, place some text between the [callout] and [/callout] code. Callout text will not appear within the body of the article, it will only appear as a callout, so you need to copy a quote from your article and paste it between the callout code.

[callout]This text would be a callout.[/callout]

BLOCKQUOTES and INDENTED TEXT

To indent text, as in a quote, put the text to be indented between the "blockquote" command so that it looks like this:

<blockquote>This is the command for indenting text.</blockquote>

BOLD TEXT

To make something bold, type the text like this:

<strong>this text will be bold</strong>

Italics

To make text appear in italics, type it like this:

<em>this is my italicized text</em>
