Deadly Encounter During Morning Commute
Marcus Anthony Eriz, 26, was sentenced on Friday to 40 years to life in prison for the murder of 6-year-old Aiden Leos. The horrific incident occurred in May 2021 while Aiden was on his way to kindergarten with his mother. A simple gesture of frustration, a middle finger shown by Aiden’s mother during a road rage altercation, escalated into an irreversible tragedy.
Gunfire Cuts Short a Young Life
Eriz retaliated by firing a single shot from his car, striking Aiden who was buckled up in his car seat. The bullet pierced through the vehicle, fatally injuring the innocent child. Eriz and his girlfriend, Wynne Lee, fled the scene, leaving behind a family shattered by grief.
Manhunt Ends in Arrests
A statewide manhunt ensued, and authorities apprehended Eriz and Lee two weeks later. Eriz faced trial in January 2024, resulting in a guilty verdict on charges of second-degree murder and shooting at an occupied vehicle.

Lee, Eriz’s girlfriend, awaits a separate trial on charges of accessory after the fact and possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle. She has pleaded not guilty to the accusations.
