Random Attack, Mother Injured
A young boy’s life was tragically cut short in a seemingly random attack outside a grocery store in North Olmsted, Ohio. Police say a woman followed a family from the store and fatally stabbed their 3-year-old son within seconds.
Swift Arrest, Shocking Details
Officers apprehended the suspect, 32-year-old Bionca Ellis, shortly after the incident. Police body camera footage captured a bystander directing them towards Ellis, who was still holding the murder weapon. Ellis has been charged with aggravated murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.
The Incident Unfolds
According to investigators, Ellis encountered the victim, Julian Wood, and his mother, Margot Wood, inside the Giant Eagle grocery store. Ellis then followed them out to the parking lot, where she attacked them with a knife obtained from a nearby thrift store. The attack happened so quickly – police say it took less than five seconds – that bystanders were unable to intervene. Julian died at the hospital, while Margot sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound to the shoulder and received treatment.
Investigation Continues
Police are currently investigating the motive behind this horrific crime. Authorities believe the attack was random and that Ellis had no prior connection to the victims.
