A former school custodian in New Jersey pleaded guilty to shocking charges, including contaminating food with bodily fluids and cleaning products and possessing child sexual abuse material.
Disturbing Acts in School Kitchen
Giovanni Impellizzeri, 27, of Vineland, New Jersey, admitted to contaminating food meant for children and staff at Upper Deerfield Township School District in 2023. According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, Impellizzeri recorded videos of himself engaging in the acts, which included putting cooking utensils on his genitals and contaminating food with cleaning products and bodily fluids.
Authorities said Impellizzeri shared the disturbing videos online, leading to his arrest and investigation.
Legal Proceedings and Charges
Impellizzeri pleaded guilty to official misconduct and possession of child sexual abuse material on Monday. Investigators uncovered the abuse material while examining the videos of food contamination.
A message seeking comment from Impellizzeri’s attorney went unanswered.
Health Concerns and Response
Cumberland County health officials, upon learning of the allegations, stated that the bodily fluids were unlikely to cause health problems. However, the basis for their determination remains unclear.
The incident has raised concerns among parents and staff, with some families considering legal action. An attorney representing affected families told WPVI that lawsuits against the school district are being explored.
