Manhunt Continues After Fifth Arrest in Ellis Square Shooting
Savannah, GA – Authorities continue their investigation into a violent shooting that erupted in a popular downtown square last month. The incident left eleven people injured, and the number of suspects facing charges is steadily growing.
Two More Individuals Added to Wanted List
Savannah Police spokesman Neil Penttila announced on Monday that arrest warrants have been issued for two additional men. These individuals face charges of aggravated assault and other related offenses stemming from the May 18th violence in Ellis Square.
Fifth Arrest Made Prior to Latest Developments
The announcement comes on the heels of a previous arrest made on Friday. Police apprehended 30-year-old Jacorey Daronte Porter, charging him with four counts of aggravated assault and illegal weapon possession in connection with the shooting. Mr. Porter represents the fifth suspect arrested in this case.
Argument Between Women Sparks Deadly Exchange
Savannah Police Chief Lenny Gunther previously revealed that the late-night shooting stemmed from an argument between two women. This altercation escalated into gunfire involving multiple shooters shortly before midnight in Ellis Square, a location frequented by tourists and situated amidst restaurants and bars in the city’s nightlife district.
Injuries Reported, No Fatalities
Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported in the shooting. However, ten individuals sustained gunshot wounds, and another person was injured by shattered glass from a car window. Thankfully, all victims received medical treatment at a hospital and were later released.
