The victim, Roy Love, 60, was providing security at M&M Food Express in south Jackson. Around 1:30 a.m., Love approached three teenagers and asked them to leave the premises. The teenagers attacked Love, took his weapon, and shot him with their own firearm. Love did not draw his weapon during the encounter, which was captured on video footage.

Arrest and Charges

Within hours of the incident, Jackson Police Department officers arrested three teenagers: two 17-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy. They have each been charged with capital murder. The police chief noted that two of the teenagers fled on foot after the shooting, while one left on a bicycle.
