Slingshot Serial Stalker Busted After Decade of Terrorizing California Neighborhood

Azusa Police Nab 81-Year-Old Suspect

An 81-year-old man has been arrested in Azusa, California, following a years-long reign of terror with a slingshot, according to the Azusa Police Department. Investigators believe the man targeted his own neighborhood for nearly a decade.

Decade of Dodging Ball Bearings

Police say their investigation revealed “dozens of citizens” were victimized by the “serial slingshot shooter” over a period of 9 to 10 years. The suspect is accused of using his slingshot to damage property, including shattering car windshields and windows in the neighborhood. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but residents likely endured years of close calls as ball bearings narrowly missed them.

Search Warrant Leads to Arrest

On Thursday, officers executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Azusa, located roughly 25 miles east of Los Angeles. The search yielded a slingshot and ball bearings, solidifying the connection to the reported incidents. The man was subsequently arrested.

Motive Unclear, Court Appearance Scheduled

Lieutenant Jake Bushey of the Azusa Police Department revealed that detectives believe the attacks were likely motivated by “malicious mischief” rather than any specific grudge or target. The suspect is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday.
