University of Arizona Student’s Murder: Four Arrested in Drive-By Shooting

Months-Long Investigation Leads to Apprehensions

Tucson police announced the arrest of four suspects Thursday in connection with the April 28th drive-by shooting that tragically claimed the life of University of Arizona student Erin Jones.

Teenagers and Young Adult Face Charges

The four individuals apprehended include 18-year-old Estevan Garcia, accused of driving the vehicle during the shooting, and three 17-year-old boys. All four face charges of first-degree murder and drive-by shooting.

The shooting occurred during an off-campus house party attended by over 200 people. Authorities report no evidence suggesting Jones, a sophomore from Newport Beach, California, was the intended target.

Investigation Continues, Legal Representation Unclear

The search for suspects has been ongoing since the incident. While details regarding legal counsel for Garcia and the other suspects haven’t been released, the Pima County Public Defender’s Office has not yet responded to inquiries.

Estevan Garcia’s Statement

According to a criminal complaint, Garcia claimed to have had a handgun in his possession during the drive-by shooting but denies firing any shots himself.

Arrests Made, Search for Others Persists

All four suspects were apprehended in the Tucson area between June 14th and 18th. Despite these arrests, the investigation continues as authorities seek additional suspects potentially involved.

Bond Information

Garcia and two of the teenagers are being held on $1 million bonds each, while the remaining teenager’s bond is set at $750,000.
