Wisconsin Inmate Pleads Not Guilty in Cellmate’s Death

Taylor Sanchez Claims Medication Issues and Delusions

A Wisconsin prison inmate, Taylor Sanchez, 28, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges of first-degree intentional homicide in the death of her cellmate, Cindy Schulz-Juedes. The arraignment took place in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.

Cellmate Found Beaten to Death

Schulz-Juedes, 68, was found beaten to death on July 19th, 2023, in the cell she shared with Sanchez at Taycheedah Correctional Institution. Sanchez was formally charged in January of this year.

Motive Unclear, Public Defender Contacted

Court records obtained by news outlets indicate Sanchez claimed to have stopped taking her medication and experienced hallucinations. She reportedly believed Schulz-Juedes was using her toothbrush to clean the toilet, which allegedly triggered the fatal attack. An attempt to reach Sanchez’s public defender for comment was unsuccessful.

Background on Inmates

Sanchez was serving a two-year sentence for battery out of Kenosha County. Schulz-Juedes’ background paints a more disturbing picture. In October 2021, she was convicted in Marathon County for her involvement in the fatal shooting of her husband, Kenneth Juedes, 58. Sentenced to life without parole in June 2022, Schulz-Juedes’ case remains a chilling backdrop to her own death within prison walls.
