More Evaluation Ordered for Suspect Charged in Stabbings at Massachusetts Movie Theater, McDonald’s

Suspect Re-Committed for Evaluation

A Massachusetts judge has ordered further evaluation for Jared Ravizza, 26, of Chilmark, who is charged with assault with intent to murder after six people were stabbed in separate attacks at a movie theater and a McDonald’s. Ravizza has been re-committed to Bridgewater State Hospital for additional evaluation on his criminal responsibility.

Court Appearance and Charges

Ravizza appeared in Plymouth District Court on Monday, where the judge issued the order for extended evaluation. Ravizza was initially arraigned in May for the stabbings of two employees at a McDonald’s in Plymouth.

Multiple Assault Charges

In addition to the McDonald’s incident, Ravizza faces eight counts of assault related to the stabbings of four girls, aged 9 to 17, at a movie theater in Braintree on May 25. Authorities report that Ravizza attacked the girls at the theater before driving south to Plymouth, where he stabbed the fast food workers.

Timeline of Attacks

The attack on the four girls occurred first at the movie theater in Braintree. Following this incident, Ravizza traveled to Plymouth, where he targeted the McDonald’s employees. The motive behind these attacks remains unclear.

Upcoming Hearing

A dangerousness hearing for Ravizza has been scheduled for next week. This hearing will determine whether Ravizza poses a threat to public safety and should remain in custody.
