Missouri Man Accused of Imprisoning and Torturing a Woman for Weeks Indicted for Murder

New Murder Indictment

A Missouri man, already facing serious charges for allegedly imprisoning and torturing a woman, has now been indicted for the murder of another woman. Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson announced Tuesday that Timothy M. Haslett has been charged with murder in the death of 36-year-old Jaynie Crosdale, who was killed by “an act of homicidal violence.” Her remains showed impact wounds consistent with a gunshot.

Previous Charges

Haslett, from Excelsior Springs, had previously been indicted on charges including rape, sodomy, second-degree assault, kidnapping, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is currently being held in the Clay County Detention Center on a $5 million bond.

Details of the Imprisonment Case

Police arrested Haslett in October 2022 after a woman escaped from his basement, where she had been tortured for weeks. She fled to a neighbor’s house wearing a trash bag, a padlocked collar, and duct tape. According to the survivor, Haslett had offered her money and, once she was in his truck, he raped her, forced her to take narcotics, and took her to his basement. There, he restrained her, raped, whipped, tortured, and choked her daily. She managed to escape while he was taking his child to school.

Survivor’s Testimony

The survivor also reported that Haslett had described killing two other women. One was suffocated with a gas mask, and another died from violent sexual torture. He threatened to suffocate her and put her in a barrel like the others if she didn’t comply.

Discovery of Crosdale’s Remains

The investigation led to significant discoveries, including the identification of Jaynie Crosdale’s remains. In June 2023, kayakers found a blue, 30-gallon barrel with a skeleton inside while camping off the Missouri River in Saline County. The remains were identified as Crosdale in July 2023.
