Woman Arrested After Kansas City Reporter Covering Super Bowl Found Dead

Police Investigate Possible Foul Play in Tragic Death of Sports Journalist

A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a Kansas City reporter who was covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans, police announced Friday.

Adan Manzano, 27, was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, a suburb just outside New Orleans. Following an investigation, authorities arrested 39-year-old Danette Colbert, who was allegedly seen on hotel surveillance cameras leaving Manzano’s room.

Suspect Had Manzano’s Belongings, Criminal History of Theft

Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley said that a search of Colbert’s residence uncovered Manzano’s credit card and cell phone.

“Right now, the only crime we have are property crimes,” Conley stated, noting that the investigation remains ongoing and charges against Colbert could be upgraded depending on further findings.

Authorities revealed that Colbert has a long criminal record, including prior cases where she allegedly drugged and robbed victims.

Colleagues Mourn a Rising Star in Journalism

Manzano, a sports reporter for Telemundo Kansas City, was praised as a talented journalist and beloved colleague.

“He was a true professional and a rising star,” Telemundo Kansas City said in a statement. “We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community.”

The station extended its condolences to Manzano’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

A Family Tragedy Following a Recent Loss

Manzano’s sudden death comes less than a year after his wife, Ashleigh Boyd, was killed in a car accident. The couple leaves behind a two-year-old daughter, according to CBS News.

Police have not yet confirmed Manzano’s cause of death, but the investigation continues as authorities work to determine whether foul play was involved.
