Attorney Mark Skapik

Attorney Mark SkapikMark J. Skapik, founder of Skapik Law Group, brings a unique combination of legal and engineering expertise to his practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona (1985) and earned his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law, gaining admission to the bar in 1993.

Before entering law, Mr. Skapik worked in mechanical design, manufacturing, quality control, and engineered product sales. This technical foundation gives him a practical, solutions-oriented approach to complex legal matters involving real-world business and engineering issues.

As an attorney, Mr. Skapik has a wide-ranging litigation background that spans trial and appellate work in both State and Federal Courts. His experience includes automobile and insurance fraud claims, construction defect litigation, product liability, civil rights, government claims, medical malpractice, and employment law, including class actions and wage & hour disputes.

In recent years, his focus has shifted toward civil rights litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, employment law, education law, and Fair Housing Act claims. Notably, Mr. Skapik and his team secured an $11 million recovery in a Qui Tam False Claims Act case on behalf of the U.S. government, underscoring his commitment to impactful, high-stakes advocacy.

Attorney Geralyn Skapik

Ms. Skapik is a seasoned litigator with a distinguished career spanning complex civil litigation, municipal defense, environmental law, and class actions. Her practice encompasses a wide range of legal areas, including general tort liability, civil rights violations, labor and employment disputes, wage and hour claims, trucking litigation, and Qui Tam False Claims Act matters. She also represents clients—both public agencies and private entities—in environmental and land use matters, with expertise in laws such as CEQA, NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, and MSHCP.

A trusted legal advisor to numerous municipalities, Ms. Skapik has been appointed Special Counsel in multiple cities, where she works closely with city councils, attorneys, managers, and staff on high-stakes legal challenges.

Ms. Skapik is also recognized for her extensive appellate and Supreme Court experience, including serving as counsel in the landmark California Supreme Court case, City of Goleta v. Superior Court of Santa Barbara County.

Admitted to practice in 1989, she is a member of the California State Bar and is admitted before all California state and federal courts, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Skapik is highly experienced in alternative dispute resolution, having served as a volunteer mediator for Riverside Superior Court and participated in proceedings with IVAMS, JAMS, AAA, and Judicate West.

She has recently been recognized as a Distinguished Lawyer and accepted into the Lawyers of Distinction Association, further affirming her reputation for excellence and integrity in the legal profession.
