Teenager Remembered as Hero After Fatal Encounter
Casper, Wyoming – A young girl, devastated by the loss of her boyfriend, spoke out at a vigil held in his honor. 14-year-old Bobby Maher was stabbed to death on Sunday at the Eastridge Mall after confronting two masked teens who were allegedly harassing his girlfriend.
Girlfriend Remembers “Bravest Boy”
Through tears, Maher’s girlfriend described him as “the bravest boy” and “the best boyfriend.” The Daily Mail reported her saying, “Me and Bobby, we had so many plans for the future.”
Fatal Confrontation at Eastridge Mall
According to an affidavit, Maher responded to his girlfriend’s call after she reported being followed by the two suspects, Dominique Harris and Jarreth Plunkett, both 15. Maher attempted to de-escalate the situation and told the teens to leave before the attack, which was captured on security cameras.
Attack Witnessed by Mall Patrons
The affidavit details how Maher tried to move away from the knife-wielding Plunkett and raised his hands to show he wasn’t armed. Tragically, the video footage shows Harris tackling Maher to the ground before Plunkett allegedly delivered the fatal stab wound.
Suspects Charged as Adults
Following the attack, Harris and Plunkett fled the scene, abandoning the murder weapon and their masks. Both have been charged as adults with conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated assault, battery, and theft. Plunkett faces an additional charge of first-degree murder for the alleged stabbing.
Community Remembers Young Hero
Maher’s girlfriend expressed her condolences to those who witnessed the horrific event and offered her support to his family. The vigil served as a space for the community to remember the young teenager who acted heroically to protect his loved one.
